Guillermo Basagoiti (Madrid, 1972) grows up in Asturias. The artistic environment of his family means that from an early age he is in contact with the possibility of the impossible, the ability to create. Finding his freedom in the tactile. He dedicates his professional life to the sea and to his workshop, where he creates driven by impulse.

He is a self-taught artist, commited to moving freely between disciplines, depending on what the project requieres. He works on-site interventions, sculptures, artist's books, works on paper, wood, stone, and iron. His work maintains a strong link with discovering the material as a tool of expression, driven by the questions about what surrounds him.

For Basagoiti, art is an instinctive and intuitive process. The work is presented, first, in his imagination, from his environment; then, fabricated, finally, it is contemplated. The idea crystallizes afterwards. And even later the words are added.
